New teeth!
Grandma was really excited to get her new teeth. But then she decided she doesn’t like them. Here she is, showing them off:

I know, it’s a wretched shot, but it was the best I got. Evidently, the bottom teeth hurt, so she’s going back to get them sanded down tomorrow. Poor dear.

Apparently no matter how they arrive new teeth are painful. I like they way they look.

Evidently so. Implants, too, are painful and take an unconscionably long time (IIRC, about six months for the inserted post to heal, and then they put the new tooth onit). They still hurt, and I’m sure that on top of all the other pain she has, it’s just. plain. miserable.

One of my friends had to get implants. In a few locations her adult teeth didn’t form and so the dentist had to pull the old baby teeth and put the implants in. I drove for one of the appointments and all she could do was make sad little ouch noises on the way home. She said it was at least six weeks before she felt comfortable again. I think I want to avoid those.

Oooh, your poor friend!
A friend of mine has had two implants. One of them (I don’t think both, but I don’t remember for sure) got an infection in the bone around the post and was pretty horrible until it got cleared up. And then it was a long, long time before it healed up enough to put the tooth on. It almost seemed like it was more trouble than it was worth, but then, it wasn’t my teeth. :shudders:
